Personal data and appropriate use

Personal data are information about you, such as name, address, birthday, telephone number, or email address. In certain cases, I do need your name, email address and further information that allows me to provide the requested services to you (e.g. mailing). If I ask you for additional information, then this information will be provided by you on a strictly voluntary basis.

The personal data is processed exclusively to be able to render the requested service (e.g. contacting you). The personal data provided by you will be collected, processed and used exclusively for the purposes communicated. Your personal data will not be disclosed to third parties without your prior consent. External service providers who are processing data on my behalf are obligated to comply with all applicable data protection regulations, and are not deemed third parties in data protection term. You are entitled to revoke a consent already given at any time. The purposes of the data processing are indicated at respective locations on my website, and are not subject to any subsequent changes.

For a simply informational visit to my website, meaning, if no registration or any other transmission of information is required, I will collect the following personal data required for technical purposes to allow you to use my website, and to ensure reliability and security (legal basis is Article 6 paragraph 1 sentence 1 lit. (f) of the GDPR):

  • IP address used
  • time of server request
  • date and time of access
  • time zone difference to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
  • visited website
  • access status/http status code
  • data volume transferred
  • referrer-URL/source (previously visited web page)
  • browser type/version, language
  • operating system used

The data collected will be used solely for statistical analyses and improvements on my website. Your personal data will not be disclosed to third parties, nor will it be linked with other information. I reserve the right to subsequently review the server log files, if there are concrete indications that suggest an illegal activity.

Use of cookies

Most of the cookies I use are so-called "session cookies". A randomly generated, unique ID number, a so-called session IP, is stored in a session cookie. A cookie also contains data about its origin and retention period. These cookies cannot store any further types of data. They are deleted automatically after you leave the site. You can also visit my web page without cookies. If you do not want me to recognise your computer, you can prevent cookies from being stored on your hard disk by choosing "Accept no cookies" in your browser settings. To find out details of how to proceed, please refer to your browser manual. If, however, you choose not to accept cookies, this can limit the functions available to you on my website.

Use of Squarespace Analytics

On this website, data are collected and stored by using the Squarespace Analytics (www.squarespace.com) web analysing service, a service provided by Squarespace Ireland Ltd., Le Pole House, Ship Street Great, Dublin 8, Ireland based on my legitimate interest in the statistical analysis of user behaviour for the purpose of optimisation and marketing in accordance with Article 6, paragraph 1 lit. (f) of the GDPR. For the same purpose, pseudonymised user profiles can be created and analysed from these data. Cookies can be used here. The data collected (including your pseudonymised IP address) by using the Squarespace technology are processed on their servers.

The information in the pseudonymised user profile generated by the cookie will not be used to identify the visitor(s) of my website, and will also not be combined with the personal information of the bearer of the pseudonym.

Your rights towards me

With regard to your personal data, you have the following rights towards me:

  • Right of access
  • Right to rectification or erasure
  • Right to restriction of processing
  • Right to objection to such processing
  • Right to data portability

Furthermore, you are entitled to submit a complaint regarding my processing of your personal data to a data protection regulatory authority. The regulatory authority in charge for you is based on your place of residence. There is a regulatory authority for each federal state in Germany.
